Schunemunkin' around

Here are some pics from a hike the Wee Man, the pooch and I took a few weeks back to Schunemunk Mountain, just south of Newburgh, NY. I hadn't been there in several years, but man, I'll be back again soon. What a nice spot.

  1. Wow! Some great pics man. Since you're mad at me, you might delete this post but I figured I would still try.

You're getting good with the camera.... are these Picnik'd? lol

  2. Dude, we were on vacation last week - sorry I didn't return your call yet. It's only a coincidence that I'm also furious at you. Ha, no, sorry, I'll call you back right after I post this comment. Probably.

Thanks man -- these are "I feel lucky"'d in Picasa. Otherwise, I have no idea how to edit anything, and I shoot in JPEG like a wuss, so I don't futz with 'em too much afterwards. Plus, Evan automatically makes every picture 75% better. I think his face is probably going to get burned into the sensor.

  3. Wow indeed! These are some fantastic pics! I was going to ask what your secret is... but apparently your secret is to "not futz with them too much." You're like the guy with the six pack abs who says he just eats pizza and watches TV all day. You disgust me.

  4. Out of curiosity, I don't see a tripod in your pack. Did you find a conveniently-level rock, or do you have a mini tripod?

  5. Thanks man! Ha, dude, I did just start using a polarizing filter, which really seems to bring out the blue in the sky. Also, when you click "I feel lucky" in Picasa, it does mess with the contrast and saturation, so these aren't totally unfutzed with. Picasa just does a better job of futzing than I do, so that's how I roll.

And I have a little Gorillapod that does the trick pretty well. I can attach it to the top of the backpack when it's sitting on the ground, so I can get some pics of us with my handy-dandy little remote control.

And that's a funny coincidence, because I actually do have a six-pack, too. Wait. Oh, six-pack abs, you said. Never mind.

  7. Thank you! Seems like everyone's futzing these days. I may have to learn how to do it properly.

  8. Rad pics, bro. My favorites are of him running toward you and then the next shot looks like he had rockets on his shoes and is heading right toward that tree. Awesome.
